Dulani’s Bio
I’m returning to teaching after stints in law, human rights activism and puppetry. I was born in Sri Lanka, raised in New Mexico and moved to Brighton nearly 16 years ago. I love reading: fiction in book form and news and commentary online. Technology keeps my family and I in touch. As a mother I’ve discovered new stories and revisited old favourites.
Lovely story that touches on the importance of children being able to see themselves reflected in the books they read (Rudine Sims Bishop). Beautiful pictures, too!
Thanks Marianne! Great to know about Rudine Sims Bishop too as I get back into teaching. Lovely to meet you!
What a wonderful story – conveying the continuation of a childhood book through the family (very comparable with Barbara’s and Jenni’s) – and the importance of ensuring that everybody is reflected in children’s literature.
Thank you for creating and sharing this!
Thanks for your kind words Shelley!
Gorgeous story Dulani – brings tears to my eyes every time I see it!
Right back at you, Jenni!
Lovely story Dulani. Reading to children is such an enjoyable thing to do even when they fall asleep !!
